Halloween, a holiday observed on October 31 is noted for its pagan and religious roots and secular traditions. In much of Europe and most of North America, observance of Halloween is largely nonreligious, celebrated with parties, spooky costumes, jack-o'-lanterns, pumpkin carvings, and the giving of candy. Today world over people celebrate Halloween in much the same way.
Crafters celebrate the event by digging into their creative side and bringing new and innovative ideas. We, a bunch of crocheters have come together to bring you a blanket to celebrate the day. The blanket has patterns ranging from ghosts to gravestones to pumpkins to witches hats to many more symbols of Halloween.
Jamie from Remington Lane Crochet has spearheaded this event and brought 13 designers together to design this unique piece. The blanket is worked in Mosaic Crochet and runs as a CAL (Crochet-a-long). If these sound strange and foreign to you, don't worry! Jamie breaks it all down and makes it really simple to work. In case you haven’t tried mosaic crochet before, this is the perfect time to dive in. Mosaic crochet looks intricate and impressive, but it is easier than you think. The technique is quite amazing and uses the most basic crochet stitches – single crochet and double crochet – to create bold and colourful patterns.
Let me give you a brief idea how this all works. The Halloween Mosaic Blanket Crochet-Along is going to run for 7 weeks, September 8-October 23, 2025. New sections of the blanket will be released on Mondays and Thursdays each week. Go to Remington Lane Crochet's page to find the details for the featured section. The blanket sections will be available beginning at 8:00 AM US Eastern Time (ET) on their featured day, and live on a different designer’s blog. Each designer will host the pattern chart on their blog, which will be viewable for free. No coupon codes or downloads are required to access the pattern chart. The button on the page will take you to the designer’s pattern on their blog.
If however working from a webpage and waiting for the pattern to be available, is not your thing, you can buy the eBook. The eBook contains all the patterns charts, and written pattern instructions. You can purchase it at any time - however, the eBook is being offered at a special discounted price for the duration of the CAL. After the CAL ends, the price will increase on November 1st.

My pattern for the blanket is a witch's hat. It is the 1oth section of the blanket and will be available on the 9th of October. As easy as Mosaic crochet is to work, it is not as easy to design. And therein lies the challenge. Making sure that all the stitch combinations work and that the pattern looks as what it is supposed to. Sometimes what is drawn on paper needs to rejigged when working the piece, to make sure the picture looks good.
The interesting part with the this CAL is that although it is designed for a blanket, you are not restricted to that. You could make a runner with the pattern by adjusting the number of repeats of each design or you could just make each individual design as a set of place mats. The options are plenty. Don't miss the opportunity to make something gorgeous with minimal effort.
The graph for my pattern will be available on the 9th of October and will be free to access. If how ever you want an ad-free pdf to download, you can access that through my Ravelry Store (link will be added on the day of release). Or buy the eBook- remember it will be available at a discounted price of $11.99 only till the 1st of November.
