QUICK PATTERNS!

Updated: Jun 15

Aren't we always in a rush for everything in life? But sometimes it is good to slow down and take it easy. Crochet is meant to be one of those crafts that help you slow down. Unfortunately many crocheters are looking for a quick project - they suddenly need a gift for a someone or are looking for quick projects to add to their repertoire, at a sale event. Let's face it - there is no greater feeling than instant gratification.

The Tunisian Key Pouch came about like this. I had a stall at an event that targeted men's fashion and lifestyle. Most items at a stall usually target women and home. Other than scarves and caps, I was trying to find something that would be useful and quick to make. The key pouch seemed like such a good idea. Not wanting to spend time in designing one, I searched for pattern. But all the patterns I could find were very 'feminine". So back to the drawing board for me!

I felt the Tunisian crochet would give the pouch the dense fabric (so that the keys don't poke out) and would be quick to make. Using TSS - Tunisian Simple Stitch, the pouch was ready in no time. The button closure took a while to figure out. I used the Indian method of 'jugaad' - also know as 'winging it' to create the closure. The pouches were well received and sold out. Subsequently, when I sat down to write out the pattern, I modified the button closure to a more easily explainable format.

These are the samples made by me and also some of my testers, showing that the variations are a-plenty. If you have never tried Tunisian, don't let it scare you off. The pattern includes an explanation of Tunisian crochet in a simple format. You do not need a special Tunisian hook for this project but can use a regular straight crochet hook without a handle.

As with the other $2 Sales that have been hosted in the past, this event also offers you the same special price for new and quick patterns. The event runs from the 15th to the 26th of June 2025 and gives you a chance to buy these beautiful patterns at just $2 each. Twelve of us global designers have come together again with a one time offer on our selected patterns. They are available at this price for the entire duration of the event. Take a detailed look at all the patterns below and you will also find the link to the other designers pages. Show us all some love and encouragement! All you need is a code to be able to purchase them. Read till the end of the post to find the code.

My featured pattern is the Tunisian Key Pouch. Though the pattern is uses #4 (DK) cotton yarn, it could potentially be made with any yarn, ensuring you adjust the number of stitches. The two sizes included in the pattern are made by just changing the hook size. Using two colours gives the TSS that little extra and makes the pattern stand out.
